The Majority of our stone comes from within France which has the lowest carbon footprint for stone flooring fabrication in the World! This is because France has only 10.2% thermal electricity production, the rest coming from low or no carbon emmitting sources! There are no chemicals used at all in production and all the water is recycled at the factories. The permits required for stone extraction in France have the most rigid environmental controls in the world.
At our home and showroom, we are supplied by "Poweo" on a zero carbon tariff. We don't supply stones that come from countries where child labour, oppresive work conditions and low wages are commonplace.
I visit all suppliers workshops and quarries on a regular basis, so I say these facts with good authority. It helps me to know the origin of our products and have peace of mind that these are the best and greenest products available.
The carbon footprint for your order is calculated, for production and transport, to your door and as an example, here (France) to Scotland will add €50 to a 100m2 order. The €50 that you pay will be matched by me and several trees will be planted here in our local communes to more than offset the carbon footprint. The tree's are planted and maintained by the village caretakers, however, if you wish and you have enough room for a tree to grow unhindered, then they can be planted at your property!
To the best of our knowledge, we are the 1st Business in France to do this.
